TANFWA is a member-driven association dedicated to uphold and enhance the profile and status of authors in Tanzania, through advocating for the recognition of their works and protection of their rights, in collaboration and cooperation with other stakeholders in the book value chain such as publishers, booksellers and libraries.

Who can join Tanfwa

Membership is open for authors, illustrators, and translators, of Textbooks, Academic and Non-Fiction works including but not limited to: scholarly works, academic textbooks, school textbooks, manuals, biographies, auto-biographies, histories, works of general interest, scholarly articles and essays; and may extend further as the case may be to include novels, poetry and dramaticworks. These can be, either ordinary, associate or honorary member.

1. Provision of assistance with copyright and publishing queries
2. Writing and authorship professional training, seminars, workshops and conferences
3. Vetting of author-publisher contracts before engagement
4. Enable members’ eligibility to apply for a grants in available grant scheme for authors or writers
5. Provision legal assistance when oneencounters a copyright matter with a publisher
6. Free access to networking platforms with other authors in TANFWAs database of writers
7. Receiving updates on activities and developments in the publishing industry
8. Receiving a quarterly Newsletter
9. Free entrance to most of our workshops and seminars held around the country
10. Access to importantwriting and authorship research portals
11. Eligibility to regional and international authors symposia of authorship and other related works.
